Dorothy Jean Ankrom McNeely

Dorothy Jean Ankrom McNeely, 93, of Jefferson, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. She was born on September 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Charles Winfield Ankrom and Charlotte Phillips Ankrom. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1951. Dorothy married Scott H. McNeely March 20, 1954; he preceded her in death June 20, 2017. She retired from Jefferson-Morgan School District as a secretary with 36 years of service. Dorothy belonged to numerous organizations including The Cornerstone Genealogical Society, 954 American Legion Auxiliary, The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR), and The Greene County Chapter Association of School Retirees (GCASR). She was a previous May Day queen in Jefferson School District, and stayed involved May Day activities. Her hobbies included genealogy, knitting, crocheting, and puzzles. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Guy Ankrom and Martha Vernetta Ankrom Whittington. She is survived by her brothers-in-law, William McNeely (Virginia) and Douglas McNeely; sister- in-law, Nancy McNeely; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 25, from 10 am until the time of a funeral service at 12 noon Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rod, Jefferson, PA 15344; interment to follow at Greene County Memorial Park in Waynesburg.
