Edith Mae Penn

Edith Mae Penn, 78, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born February 3, 1947, to John and Grace Smith Haygood. Edith was a devoted woman of faith and community. She attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where her presence and fellowship were deeply valued. Active in local organizations, she was a proud member of the daughter of the Elks Sheba Temple 99 in Canonsburg, 18 Pole of Washington, and the American Legion Post 902 Auxiliary. Through her involvement, Edith gave her time and energy to serving others and building lasting friendships. She will be remembered for her dedication, kindness, and her commitment to her church and community. Edith is survived by her son, Derek Penn of Canonsburg; daughters, Darnette (Michael) Perry of Virginia, Chantel Thomas of Washington; grandchildren, Carra (Brian) Thomas-Reed, Keirsten (Mark) Thomas-Tatum, Tierra and Andrew Thomas, Lashawn Bryant, Mia and Mikayla Penn, Michael Perry; sisters, Dorothy Reese, Sara (Allison) Young, Ivory Richardson and Beverly Collazo (Tito); and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Penn; granddaughter, Sheena Thompson; and brothers, James Haygood and Michael Haygood.
