Gary Zec Obituary

Gary Duane Zec, 73, of Rices Landing, formerly of Vestaburg, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025. Gary was born March 30, 1952, in Brownsville, a son of the late Ellen Juanita and Eli Zec. He was the beloved husband of Carla J. Zec, whom he married July 31, 1978. Carla preceded him in death January 25, 2017. Gary was a loving father to Amber K. Zec and husband Steve Nehls; and a cherished grandfather to Nico Snoderly and Devan Snoderly. He is also survived by his brother, Milton "Skip" Zec; and was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Pelkey. Gary was a dear brother-in-law to Lisa Caltuna and Michael (Cathy) Caltuna. He is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and his adored "sparkly girl," Aerilynn Caltuna, who brought him endless joy. Gary had a deep love for making gemstones and enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge as a true font of information, especially when watching Jeopardy! He found great happiness playing and reading with children, particularly Aerilynn. His creative spirit showed through his passion for woodcraft and carving. He also loved fishing, spending time with his beloved cat, Rogue, and his loyal boxer dogs. All services are private and entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cancer research fund of one's choice.
