I went to school with her daughter who we called "Little Gwen" so many days and nights were spent at her house. She was always a fun and gracious Mom. I will never forget her. RIHP Ms. Gwen. Kim Lee

"Gwen" as she was affectionately called, was a woman of intense character, strength, faith, brilliance, beauty, knowledge and kindness.
A friend of my mother Ernestine Goe Bedford; Gwen and my mom worked tirelessly at Bethel AME Church in Monongahela PA, in support of their annual Bazaar and numerous other church activities.
Her distinct voice, her gentle poise, her fashionable clothing, her attention to details, and total commitment to God, her family her friends and her faith are unforgettable.
I extend my sincere sympathy to the Simmons family and ask that God comfort you now and in all of the days to come.
Sincerely,
Nadine Bedford Connor

I have been honored to known Gwen 50+ years. First, as a classmate of son Paul. Across the years, Gwen was there whenever I returned to Monongahela hometown for historic and patriotic events. She was active in many organizations and led with brilliance. Most memorable was traveling with her, George Simmons, and Amy Brown to Heinz History Center to meet Director Samuel W. Black. He later visited the Simmons residence, documented local history that was included in exhibits. The attached photograph also includes Terri Necciai. Deepest condolences to Paul, sisters Gwen and Anne, families, and all blessed to have known this beautiful soul.
