Harold Mace Obituary

The world lost one of the rarest souls when Harold Clenton Mace, Jr. left us on Friday, September 12, 2025. Born May 29, 1949, Harold lived a life like no one else - a wild at heart hippie, a loving good man, and always up for an adventure. Harold grew up in Washington, Pa and attended Washington High School before serving in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969. He was part of the 1st Air Cavalry division and deployed to Vietnam which was an experience that fiercely shaped the rest of his life. He became committed to helping other Veterans who walked his same path as him with his work as a Veteran's Representative. He married the love of his life, Cora Mace, in 1979. Though their marriage came to an end, they remained in a loving and caring relationship. That spoke to who Harold was, a man who believed family was everything. In recent years, Harold moved to Pittsburgh to live with his daughter Shaelinn and her dog Dio. Being closer to his daughter Colecia and his beloved granddaughters Quil and Zela brought him joy, and together they spent cherished time as a family. Outside of family he found joy in simple pleasures. He loved being on the water with a fishing pole in his hand, and he could hold his own at any pool table, playing with the same focus and mischief that defined him everywhere else. He had a true passion for youth coaching, pouring his heart into mentoring young people - passing on not just skills, but lessons in confidence, teamwork, and grit. Above all else, Harold was the best and devoted Dad and Pappy. He led an incredible, sometimes insane life - full of adventure, laughter, and love. He was happiest surrounded by family, telling stories, laughing, and never turning down a smoke or a good tune. He was a man who lived freely, loved deeply, and encouraged those around him to do the same. Harold is survived by his children and grandchildren: Michael (Lisa), and their children Michaela, Michan, Mallory, Easton, and Pyper; Colecia (Kc), and their children Mia, Quil, and Zela; and Shaelinn, along with her cool dog Dio. He also leaves behind a close and loving extended family - his father, siblings, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and friends - all of whom will miss him dearly and keep his stories alive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Veteran's charities.
