Iris Mirich Obituary

Iris Mirich, 73, of Burgettstown, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Washington Hospital, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Iris graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1970. After graduation, she went on to work for Prudential Insurance, Burgettstown Community Medical Center, and ADP. In November of 2000, she married Pete Mirich. In her retirement, Iris cherished spending quality time with her grandchildren, taking care of her flowers, and cooking for her family and neighbors. Her positivity inspired everyone around her. Pete and Iris were a lively couple who brought energy to every party. Iris's laugh was infectious and made everyone around her smile! She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Mirich, who recently passed away November 23, 2024. She endearingly referred to him as "Cowboy." She was a daughter of the late Karl Windsheimer and Alma Slopek Windsheimer. Brothers, Ken, Richard, and Robert Windsheimer; sister, Shirley Bender (Joseph); and brother- in-law, Sam Matesic also preceded Iris in death. She was the loving mother of John Puskar (Jennifer) of South Park, Jennifer Borelli (Patrick) of Burgettstown, Tara Kay Race (Harold) of North Fayette Township, Ray "Bo" Mirich (Marcy) of Burgettstown, Mandy Squire (Leo) of Cranberry Township; grandchildren, Calvin, Abby, Ally, William and Michael Puskar, Sophia and Gianni Borelli, Autumn and Taylor Race, Cole and Bodie Mirich, Calvin Squire, Louis and Glory Friedl. She is also survived by her siblings, Jean Matesic, Ronald Windsheimer (Joanne), Arthur "Junior" Windsheimer (Darlene); brother-in-law, Michael Mirich (Sheila); sister-in- law, Judy Windsheimer; and many cherished nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children. The family sincerely thanks her oncology team, Dr. Kapoor, Shannon and the staff, whom she affectionately called her "earth angels." They treated her with unwavering compassion, care, and love. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 15, in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021, (724) 947-2049, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 16.
