James "Jim" Anthony Courie, 89, of Bethel Park, (formerly of Washington,) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
Born on September 16, 1932, he is the son of the late John and Mary Courie of Houston.
Beloved husband to Rose Marie DePaoli Courie. Loving father of Robert J. (Courtney) Courie and John J. "JJ" (Joy) Courie. Cherished grandfather of Isabella Rose, Zachary James, Nicholas Christian, Kurt John, and Colton Joseph. Loving brother of Charles (Charlotte) Courie.
James was preceded in death by his siblings, Samuel (Ruth) and Joseph Courie and Rose (Tony) Mathews and Theodora (Donald) Deems.
James served during the Korean War as a proud member of the United States Air Force and was a talented singer who played in various bands in the 50's during the birth of Rock 'n Roll.
He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish, an avid Steeler fan with season tickets, and was the family's go-to handyman who could fix anything. He loved visiting Las Vegas, playing craps, and telling stories about his life. Most importantly, James cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by all.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church (Oscar Romero Parish), 300 Pike Street, Meadow Lands, PA 15347.
Everyone please meet at the church. Private Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
