James Yoho Obituary

James W. Yoho, 79, of New Martinsville, W.Va., went to be with his Lord Monday, June 19, 2017, in his home, surrounded by family and friends in his final days.
He was born April 2, 1938, in New Martinsville, a son of the late Percy Morgan and Elizabeth F. Wells Yoho.
Mr. Yoho was a 1956 graduate of Magnolia High School. After high school, he attended and received a bachelor's degree from Salem College.
After college, he briefly taught at Shadyside High School, where he proudly coached an undefeated freshman basketball team. He then worked at Conalco for many years, until his retirement in 1994 as a senior metallographer. Post retirement, Mr. Yoho indulged in his passion for the oil and gas business, where he found much enjoyment and success.
Mr. Yoho enjoyed working on his family genealogy. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 931, New Martinsville, Wetzel Masonic Lodge 39, AF&AM, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree and Osiris Shriners.
He was also a member of New Martinsville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Yoho enjoyed all sports, particularly basketball, having worn out many a basketball during his youth. During his senior year at Magnolia High School, he and his teammates posted a fine 17-3 season record. He was forever proud of the team and maintained lifelong friendships with many teammates. He was also a recipient of the Magnolia Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
He was an avid Mountaineer fan (beat Pitt!) and a longtime football and basketball season ticket holder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved loafing and telling tall tales at his camp in Minnie, W.Va., with family and lifelong friends.
In younger days, Mr. Yoho bred Black Angus cattle on the same farm in Minnie where his beloved parents pastured thoroughbred race horses. He enjoyed having dogs and cats around to keep him busy and was blessed with a number of memorable furry friends during his lifetime.
Surviving are his loving wife of 24 years, Judy Yoho; four children, Ben Yoho of Raleigh, N.C., JoDell (KD) Ritchea of New Martinsville, James P. Yoho of New Martinsville and Lee Ann (Brian) Ronca of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, Ryan (Danielle) Ritchea of Columbus, Ohio; and several cousins and many friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 South Bridge Street, New Martinsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, with Lemoyne Horner officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville.
