Jesse W. "Bud" Patterson Sr.

Jesse "Bud" W. Patterson, Sr., 79, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the Concordia Hospice of Washington Donnell House. He was born April 1, 1946, in Core, W.Va., a son of the late William and Mildred Patterson. Bud had been a Greene County resident most of his life after moving from Core in 1964. He graduated from Clay- Batelle High School in 1964. Bud was a former member of the Waynesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4793. He married Gloria Snyder and they were happily married for 30 years until her passing in 2002. Bud was employed as a cab driver for Yellow Cab for six years until he retired in 1974. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, and West Virginia University Football. Bud also enjoyed spending time and having a few drinks with his friends, reading the newspaper, and scratch- off tickets. He is survived by six children, Ed Patterson of Somerset, Sherry (Mike) Bennett of Washington, Gloria "Susie" Patterson of Texas, Mitzie (Josh) Blake of Moundsville, W.Va., Mike Patterson, of West Virginia, Paul Snyder of Nemacolin, and Jesse "Buddy" Patterson, Jr. of Waynesburg; 24 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three children, Brenda Durbin, Sheila Wooley, and Jessica Patterson; and a sister, Jane Patterson.
