Joan Petro Obituary

Joan L. Petro, 79, of Washington, formerly of Houston, passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on August 23, 2023, one day shy of her 60th wedding anniversary.

She was born in June 24, 1944, in Canonsburg, to the late Edward Whitfield and Alice Huffman Whitfield. Joan was raised by her eldest sister, Hazel, after her mother passed away when Joan was three days old. She was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.

On August 24, 1963, she married her loving husband, Charles S. Petro, who took wonderful care of her to the very end.

She was the beloved mother to her only child, Kevin Petro, whom she loved with all her heart, and his loving wife, Marisa Petro, who adored her.

She was the grandmother of Shayne, Aaryn, Camden and Jason, the apple's of her eye.

She was preceded in death by by her sisters, Hazel, Betty, Molly, Lil, Marie, Joyce and two sisters who died in infancy; three brothers, Amos, James and Charles; and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by sister, Lorrie Dellovade; and nieces, Paula Witkowsky and Adrianne Dellovade, who the family would like to thank for aiding in her care and always being there. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to all of her hospice team.
