John Reck Obituary

John Arthur "Jr." Reck, 75, of Washington, died Thursday, August 5, 2021, in the Washington Hospital.

He was born August 20, 1945, in Washington, a son of the late John and Mabel Ashmore Reck.

Mr. Reck was a 1963 graduate of Trinity High School and a member of First Lutheran Church of Washington.

He worked over 47 years as a shipper with Pennsylvania Transformer, from where he retired.

In his free time, Mr. Reck enjoyed hunting, playing scratch-off tickets and watching the deer in the Washington Cemetery, and most importantly, taking care of his lawn. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 of the American Legion and the Alpine Club.

Mr. Reck served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On July 25, 1970, in New Jersey, he married the love of his life, Joanne Kreutzer, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer J. (Matt Washowich) Reck of Belle Vernon; two brothers, Dave (Beverly) and Bob (Sandy) Reck, both of Washington; a sister, Margaret (Richard) White of Hickory; a granddaughter, Payton Balieu; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 12, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 13, with Pastor Robert Grewe officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or the Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 of the American Legion, 168 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
