Joseph A. Bayto Sr.

Joseph A. Bayto, Sr., 92, of Bethel Park, formerly of Baldwin, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025. Born in Muse, he was a son of the late Andrew John and Iva Jukic Bayto, Sr., who immigrated to the U.S. from Zavojane, Croatia. Beloved husband of the late Nancy Barbarich Bayto; loving father of Beverly Edwards, and Joseph A. (Jane) Bayto, Jr.; cherished grandfather of Clayton and Hayden Edwards, and Mikayla and Abigayle Bayto; and brother John (Pat, deceased). Also survived by nieces and nephews, and extended family in Croatia and Australia. Preceded in death by siblings, Helen (Tony), Mary, and Dorothy (Bruce). Joe served in the Army during the Korean War as a Bandsman in the 3rd Division Band, Fort Benning, Georgia.. He graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from the California University of Pennsylvania. He was a science teacher, a vice-principal and principal at Pleasant Hills Middle School, a career he loved. He was a member of the St. Valentine's Men's Club and Golf League, Croatian Fraternal Union, University of Pittsburgh Tamburitzans, Phi Delta Kappa and past president of the Bethel Park Lion's Club. In his free time, he was a talented woodworker and gardener. Family and friends will be received from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in Paul Henney Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, in Our Lady of Hope Parish/St. Valentine Church. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Hills Public Library.
