He was born in McKees Rocks, a son of Joseph Alan Dhans Sr. and Barbara Ann Johnston.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his stepfather, Bud Johnston; his stepmother, Melanie Dhans; a daughter, Chloe Madison Dhans; a son, Dax Alexander Dhans; a sister, Jessica Cecile Dhans; fiancé Timothy Berty; three brothers, Dylan Dhans, Garrett Dhans and Riley Dhans; paternal grandparents Jim and Eleanor Dhans; maternal grandparents Gilman and Nancy Milliard; seven aunts, Debra Spotti, Vickie Hohn-Dhans (Tina), Claudette Biers, Michelle Milliard (Judy Cervenka), Jackie Milliard, Rachel Partin-Simeone (Steve) and Suzy Milliard; an uncle, Michael Dhans (Amy); and many cousins.
Deceased is an uncle, James Dhans Jr.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral Service Inc., Durham.

I am so sorry to see such a bright and young child, I called my son leave us so early in life.I feel so sad for the family. I have always called him my son and treated him as my son as he grew up with my son. I will keep Joey and his family in my thoughts and prayers. He was a great person and will be loved and missed.
