Joseph Charles "Bean" Spina Sr., of Washington, died on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Donnell House.
Bean was born in Charleroi on May 24, 1955, to the late Joseph S. Spina and Betty Ann McKeta Spina Draganac, of Belle Vernon.
He attended Charleroi High School, and after graduation, spent over 40 years in the construction industry, operating heavy equipment for various companies.
On May 26, 1990, he married Rebecca Kabay Spina who survives.
Bean was an avid sports fan, professional and local, but nothing kept him away from a Prexie game that his children were participating in, and there were a lot. When the kids were younger he coached whenever he could, and as they got older he was more of a spectator, but their biggest fan.
Surviving are his children, Joseph Spina, Jr. (Autumn) of Ellsworth, Jami Spina (Jerome Williams) of Canonsburg, Jonathan Spina of Pittsburgh, and Rachel Spina at home; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Vicki Dalfonso (Anthony) of Belle Vernon, Eugene Spina (Traci) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Regina Sicchitano (Ron) of Bentleyville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Spina; and stepfather, John Draganac.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor / Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.
A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, with the Rev. George Chortos as celebrant. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery.
