Joseph Yarnall Obituary

May 7, 1955 - February 26, 2024 Joseph Loren Yarnall, 68, of Pittsburgh, passed away unexpectedly, in his home, Monday, February 26, 2024. He was a son of the late Tom R. Yarnall, Sr. and Geraldine M. Yarnall. Joseph, or Loren to his family, was a graduate of California Area High School, where he was an outstanding student and MVP tennis player. After earning his degree in business management at California State College, Loren spent the majority of his career in the banking and financial services industries, beginning at Charleroi Federal Savings and Loan. He was then hired by the federal government during the U.S. Savings and Loan Crisis, assessing assets of S&Ls with the Resolution Trust Corporation, mostly in Texas. He spent the remainder of his career in loan servicing and compliance with GMAC, ResCap, and others, mostly in Eastern Pennsylvania and Virginia. He retired and returned to Pittsburgh in 2016. Although clearly an accomplished man, it was his way to remain humble, and it was this demeanor that always made him an easy person with whom to speak. Loren loved the outdoors, especially in the company of his canine nieces, Mia and Maya. Having spent significant time studying in Morgantown, W.Va., Loren also had a passion for West Virginia University sports. Always happy to discuss any aspect of WVU football or basketball, one could not expect his attention while an important contest was underway. His sudden departure has left his siblings deeply saddened, and he will be sorely missed by brothers, Tom of California and Eric of Pittsburgh; and sister, Nancy of San Antonio, Texas. As Loren was Roman Catholic by faith, please consider offering a Mass in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to O'Brien's Funeral Home, Pittsburgh.
