Kenneth H. Rush

Kenneth H. Rush, 78, of Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully, in his home, Sunday morning, July 27, 2025. He was born December 26, 1946, in Washington, and grew up in Avella. Ken married the love of his life, Sandra K. Dennis, September 9, 1966, in Independence United Methodist Church. Shortly after their marriage, Ken and Sandy moved to New Jersey, where Kenny started turning his love of all things mechanical into a career. He was employed by Greif Bros. Corp. for 30 years, before retiring in 2000. Ken loved working in his garage and was well known for his "wrenching" skills. He shared his love of cars and trucks with his three sons, teaching them valuable life lessons along the way. Over the years, Kenny was responsible for dozens of restorations, a passion he passed down to his sons. Kenny built his last two homes with his own hands and was instrumental in helping his sons build their own homes in the Avella area. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra, are his sons, Rodney (Trudi) Rush of Avella, Rowdy (Amy) Rush of Washington, Kendall (Cheryl) Rush of Avella; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, Clayton, Kyle, Cameron, Julianne, Joshua and Kenneth; two great- grandchildren, Eloise and Rigby; five sisters, Ellen Thorne, Lelia (Melissa) Rush, Barbara LaVerne, Mary Mozingo, and Loretta (Jamie) Gentile; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. Rush and Clara A. Burns McCay; a brother, Robert "Butch" Rush; and a sister, Betty Mozingo. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home, Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, with Pastor Bonnie Gilbert officiating.
