Lawrence Bristor Obituary

Lawrence Rollins "Rollie" Bristor, 93, of Waynesburg, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in his home, with his family by his side. Born November 19, 1930, in Waynesburg, he was a son of the late Read Rollins and Garnet Watson Bristor. Rollie graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1948. In the early '50s, he moved to his farm in Holbrook, where he lived for 60 years before returning to Waynesburg. He was a member and trustee of the Holbrook Christian Church and had been attending the First Church of the Nazarene recently. He married Betty A. Crouse August 17, 2012, and they were happily married for 11 years. Rollie retired from National Transit in Meadowlands after 27 years of employment. He then worked for Atlas Railroad for eight years while he continued his farming. Rollie was also the owner and operator of six oil and gas wells. He was a great outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting various types of wildlife, and was a very skilled fox trapper. He also started playing golf when he was in his 60's. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Deborah (Dick) Hildreth of Nineveh, John (Debbie) Bristor of Waynesburg, and Barbara B. Veneskey of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; five stepchildren, David (Jean) Whitlatch of Hopwood, Lori Whitlatch and Eric (Kippie) Whitlatch, both of Waynesburg, Julie (Bill) D'Eletto of Sycamore, and Stephanie Whitlach of Carmichaels; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; also, six stepgrandchildren and 12 stepgreat- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald W. and Donald M. Bristor; son-in-law, James Veneskey; stepgrandchildren, Jamey and David A. Whitlatch, a great- grandchild, Leo Wolfe; and the mother of his children, Peg Bristor Jackson. Rollie was the last of his immediate family. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359 (telephone: 724-499-5181), where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masontown Amedisys Hospice, 2183 McClellandtown Road, Masontown, PA 15461. Please view and sign the tribute wall at www.kestersonfh.com.
