Lisa C. Hamilton, Ph.D., of Washington, died on Saturday, August 26, 2023, after an 18-year cancer battle.
She was born in Washington, on April 20, 1961, to James W. and Cora M. Miller, who are deceased.
Lisa is survived by her daughter, April (Tom) Waltz; granddaughter, Sky; and siblings, James W. (Brenda) Miller, Karen L. Liggett and Robert W. Miller.
Her sister, Susan M. Miklic, is deceased.
She leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, very kind friends and sweet dog companion, June.
Lisa was a life-long member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where she served the church in many roles over the years. She was particularly involved in youth programs such as Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and enjoyed teaching the children of the church.
Lisa attended Trinity Area School District. She graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with a double major in Psychology and Education. She completed her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, at the University of Pittsburgh.
Lisa worked in many positions while earning her degrees, including on the family farm, as a bridal consultant, as a substitute teacher for Trinity and Bentworth School Districts and as a photographer for the Auto Trader. She enjoyed the people and learning in all of these areas. Upon completing her doctoral degree, she served West Virginia University as a staff psychologist, and Washington & Jefferson College as psychologist and Director of Student Health and Counseling.
The family would like to thank Dr. Pryia Rastogi and her great team at the Women's Cancer Center at Magee Women's Hospital, who provided her with excellent care since 2005.
Visitation and services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Buffalo Presbyterian Church or The Women's Cancer Center at Magee Women's Hospital.
