Margaret V. Burke passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. She was born and raised in Peters Township.
After high school she attended the Washington Female Seminary, and a number of years later, attended night classes at the University of Pittsburgh.
Thirty-seven plus of her 45 working years were spent at Westinghouse Headquarters in Pittsburgh as an executive secretary.
Peg was a lifelong active member of Center Presbyterian Church in McMurray. Throughout those years she served as a primary Sunday school teacher, pianist, board member, and librarian plus numerous other roles.
Her favorite past- times were golf and U.S. and world travel, plus, she had a life-long interest in music.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Burke, with whom she has lived for more than 90+ years. She is survived by three nieces, Margaret Tilton of Dover, Nancy Newman of Gettysburg and Judy Burke of Ashland, Ohio. In addition, she is survived by three great- nieces, two great- nephews, four great-great nieces and three great-great nephews.
Deceased are her brother, William J. Burke; and two nephews Wm. James Burke and Jon Burke.
A service in her memory will be held at Center Presbyterian Church in McMurray at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, following a short visitation with the family starting at noon.
Her family wishes to thank the Gallagher Hospice and the Angels for the Elderly for the wonderful attention and care given during Peg's illness. The family also appreciated the special cards, foods and love shared by friends and members of the church.
