Marilyn LaBute Obituary
Marilyn Jean Walker LaBute, 92, formerly of California, left this world to find solace with her Lord Wednesday, June 18, 2025. She was born September 24, 1932, to William O. Walker and Bertha M. Walker of Hamilton, Ohio. Her death was preceded by her husband, Daniel Lee LaBute, of California; her parents; and brother, Richard Walker (Carol) of Wis. Marilyn graduated from Brentwood High School and then from Indiana State University. Her Bachelor's degree was in Elementary Education. She briefly taught and substituted before starting her family. Marilyn's life could be summarized as one of devotion. She was solidly devoted to her Christian faith as she was devoted to her husband, Lee and daughters. She lived by teaching by example. Marilyn was active in many community groups especially at California United Methodist Church. She was the pianist and organist for the church as needed and played for Bible school. She participated in the women's groups of the church and held many offices therein. She was always baking pies and cookies for their fundraisers and helped with dinners. She also enjoyed working the polls at elections and volunteering as a Girl Scout leader. Her sharp mind was honed by her interests in reading, especially history, and playing Bridge. She loved playing the game and helped coordinate bridge groups with her friends. CLEO club was one such group. She also enjoyed spending time playing games with the grandchildren. Marilyn was a diligent, hard-working housewife. With love she kept a running household for a family of seven, prepared for camping trips, canned fruits and vegetables, and had dinner on the table precisely at 5:30 every night (with cookies baked in the afternoon). She was renowned for her delicious blueberry pies. Marilyn leaves behind a loving family of five daughters: Susan (Ronald) Bloss of Front Royal, Va.; Doris (John) Wadsworth of Perryopolis; Karen (Charles) Harris of Malden; Lisa (Jack) Borden of Bluffton, S.C.; and Paula (Kenneth) Tirpak of Lake Worth, Fla. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Jaclyn (Brian) Bloss-Bell and Russell (Shannon) Bloss, John (Maria) Wadsworth, Bradden Wadsworth, Daniel (Alexis) Wadsworth, Jesse and Aaron (Jessica) Harris, Ethan (Allie) and Sadie Quint, and Zachary (Taylor) Tirpak, Meredith (Nick) Prendes, and Julia (Kappie) Mkwane; 14 great- grandchildren; brother, Bill Walker (Rosemary) of Ashburn, Va. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA 15419, where visitation continues from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, when prayers of transfer will be said followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the California United Methodist Church, with the Rev.
