Marilyn Sherman Obituary

An angel came and took Marilyn Lee Sherman by her hand to her place in Heaven Saturday, April 26, 2025. Marilyn was a proud wife, mom, gram and nannie. Marilyn, 86, of Washington, was born December 1, 1938, in Masontown, a daughter of the late Howard and Eleanor Bowers. Marilyn graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1956. She had worked as a stenographer for Pennsylvania Transformers in Canonsburg from 1956 to 1961 and later worked at Carringa's Restaurant and then for Kelly Girls Temp Service. She loved to dance. She enjoyed country line dancing for 22 years. She also enjoyed time spent at the family camp in the mountains, boating and camping with the family, and family card games. She was a member of First Christian Church in Washington, where she became a deacon in 2003 and served as secretary of the Governing Board for seven years. On March 21, 1959, she married Edwin Sherman Jr., who died September 27, 2019. Surviving are three children, Dennis Sherman (Jodie Barney) of Marianna, Randy Sherman (Tammy) of Bentleyville, and Brenda Livolsi (Joe) of Houston; eight grandchildren, Taynia Carosella, Tabitha Homme, Julie Todaro, April and Jacob Sherman, Jamie Barney, Shane Smith and Marisa Sherman; six great-grandchildren, Samie and Brooklynne Homme, Carina Carosella, Gabriella and Elanor Todaro, and Eli Sherman; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is one sister, Joyce Cregut, who died in February 1992. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, April 29, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
