Matthew J. Withers of Langeloth, who just turned 33 November 8, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 11, 2018, in his home.
He was born in Sewickley, a son of the late Leonard P. Withers, who passed away November 2, 2018, and his mother, Betty R. Okavitch Withers, who survives.
Matthew was a graduate of Burgettstown High School and worked at Miller Centrifugal Casting in McDonald for the past two years. He loved sports, especially playing football through the Lions organization throughout grade school and continuing his love of playing junior varsity and varsity football at Burgettstown Area Middle/High School.
Matthew made the Who's Who in his senior year. He was very charismatic and well-liked in the community.
He was very close to both his parents. He spent a lot of time watching and attending Steelers games with his father and especially loved, admired and was so proud of the fact his mother was a nurse and caregiver to many.
He loved his pit bull, Star, whom he shared with his mother on weekends. Matthew loved rock 'n' roll music and attending concerts, spending time with his family and many, many friends.
In addition to his mother, Matthew is survived by his uncles, Jimmy, Robby and Rudy, many cousins and all his friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021, 724-947-2049, www.youngfhinc.com, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, with the Rev. I know you're in a better place with your dad and you're getting to meet some of the greatest sports legends we always talked about as kids. I am happy to have the memories I have with you and Jason Stiffler as youngins playing backyard football at the post office and all the other summertime fun we had. At the same time I am extremely saddened by the thought of never getting to talk to you again when I come to visit family n friends in langeloth. Another young life ended in it's prime. I am so sorry for your loss Betty and I I really wish I could come pay my respects to Matt and you. You are such soft soul with a kind heart, that was kind to me. I don't know what to say except for Matt will always be in my .

So shocked and saddened by this news. I've known Matt since grade school at Eldersville. He has always been a funny, charismatic person. I saw Matt about a month ago at my brother's Burgettstown football game and we hugged and laughed like old times. We even took a picture together on his phone. I know Matt was very close to his dad, which must have been very hard for him... May they both rest in peace. Love you Matt.
