Melton Sumpter III

Melton "Porky" Sumpter, III, age 75, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was the son of Melton and Elizabeth Sumpter of Clairton Pa., both now deceased. He was a 1967 graduate of Clairton High School, where in his junior and senior years, he starred on the basketball team, breaking records and leading the team to local and state championships. He is best remembered as a much-beloved father and devoted family man. He is survived by four daughters and one son, Twanna Pace, Keisha McCoy, Carmella Green, Milacee Sumpter, and Jerome Olgetree. His grandchildren include, Whitney, Cyria, Randi, Lawana, Avery, Jameilah, and Eric (Tre). He also has seven great-grandchildren, Quadir, Z'Nyria, Jayden, Rahmon, Amirah, and Zymir. He was adored, respected, and admired by his brothers and sisters, Rosemarie Burney (deceased), Frances Fant (deceased), Lillie Mae Young, Wilhelmina Sumpter, Beverly James Sumpter, Adrinnia Washington, Pauline Williams, Johnnie Barnett, Cheryl Barnett, and Clifton Sumpter. We know that "Porky" was a baptized believer, and we pray that the Lord will receive him and grant him an eternal home in his kingdom.
