Mildred Brownlee Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth "Millie" Brownlee, 97, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Woodside Place of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington. Millie was born on January, 27, 1928, a daughter of John H. Jackson and Madeline Glaum Jackson. Millie was a graduate of Trinity High School where she was chosen May Queen. Following graduation, she married the love of her life, Robert R. "Bob" Brownlee. They were inseparable and celebrated 78 years of marriage before Bob's passing on January 25, 2024. The couple settled in North Franklin, raising their three sons: David, Dan, and Thom. As she was outnumbered by the boys in her home, she grew to enjoy all Pittsburgh sports and golf. At a memorable Pirate game, Millie caught a baseball hit by Robert Clemente. Millie worked for Washington Federal. After her retirement she and Bob traveled all over the country, visiting many national parks and memorable places. They then spent the next 30 years as "snowbirds" in Ft. Myers, Florida. Millie loved spending time with family, getting together on holidays, birthdays and anniversaries, and no get together was complete without her delicious pies. She was an avid reader and could finish a book in a day. She loved tending to her flowers, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing games with her grandson, Kent, and granddaughter, Kendall. She and Bob enjoyed getting outdoors and had a daily routine walking on the trails in North Franklin or in the mall then meeting her sister, Gladys, and husband, for breakfast. Millie was a lifelong member of the Alliance Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and sewed for missions. While we mourn her passing, we rejoice knowing she is with our Lord and Savior and her husband. She is the last of her immediate family. Left to cherish her love and memory are sons, David (Irene) Brownlee and Dan (Joan) Brownlee; her daughter-in-law; Janet Brownlee; grandchildren Kelly Brownlee (Kelly Boyd), Kent Brownlee, Kara (Justin) Myers, Kayde Brownlee, Janell Blasco (Bill) and Ryan Brownlee; great-grandchildren; Kendall Brownlee, Tyler Brownlee, Aiden (Karly) Myers, Allie Myers, Andelyn Myers, Delayna Blasco and Blake Blasco. Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a son, Thom Brownlee; sisters: Vera Keenan, Gladys Ralston and Jean Carroll; and brothers, James Jackson and John Jackson. Friends will be received Monday, December 15, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time the services will be held, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, with the Reverend David E. Brownlee officiating. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alliance Church, 246 Sanitarium Rd., Washington, PA 15301 or Woodside Place of Washington, 954 Redstone Rd., Washington, PA 15301. David, my wife spoke to me often of your family. She knew you as a classmate and Millie from Youth for Christ. Upon our move to Raleigh, I had the good fortune of meeting you on several occasions. You have had many years of memories to cherish with both of your parents. While it is never easy to lose them, you have the assurance that they are with our Lord and at peace. Please accept my condolences in your loss.
