Patricia Leon Obituary
Patricia Joanne Leon, 93, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023. She was born June 21, 1930, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine Smeton Hayes of Canonsburg and Baltimore, Md.
Patricia "Pat" was a lifelong resident of Canonsburg / North Strabane and a graduate of Canonsburg High School in 1948.
After high school, she attended Penn Commercial Business/Technical School in Washington, where she met her future husband, Isaac Leon, also of Canonsburg.
Patricia and Isaac were wed in 1952 in Canonsburg, and they were happily married for 62 years until Isaac's passing in 2015.
Pat was a long-time corporate secretary for the Pennsylvania Transformer Company, McGraw-Edison and Cooper Industries of Canonsburg until her retirement.
Over the years, Pat enjoyed visiting the casinos to play the slot machines and taking vacations with her family in Sandbridge, Va. She was an avid baker who specialized in soft chocolate chip cookies.
A devout Catholic, Pat was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Church Christian Mothers Association of Canonsburg.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Hayes, formerly of Canonsburg.
Surviving are her children, Kathleen (Dan) Fowler of Glenshaw, Michael (Ruth Ann) of Stahlstown, and Susan Garber of Phoenix, Ariz.; her seven grandchildren, Emily Torchia, Craig Fowler, Rachel, Juliet and Daniel Leon, and Matthew and Michael Garber; and her 12 great-grandchildren, Brody, Lila, Ellie, Phoebe and Violet Torchia, Isaac, Maeve, Maura and Olivia Fowler, Leo and Roman Scrivo, and Maxon Garber.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211), followed by a funeral service. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted, in her name, for the Christian Mothers Association to St. Oscar Romero Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
