Paul Vincent Cassidy, 88, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday, February 27, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy C. Smith Cassidy for 65 years; loving father of Madeleine (G. Robert) Sipp, Michele (James) Tanner, Maureen (Keith) Kull and Mimi (Jeffrey) Sobek; caring grandfather of Nathan (Jennifer) Sipp, Ashley Tanner, Abbey (Robert) Wash, Kyle (Lauren) Kull, Cassidy (Dale) Checketts, Kristopher Kull and Lundy Sobek; great-grandfather of Asher Sipp, Kieran Sipp, Kade Kull and Carson Checketts; brother of Genevieve Bogda, LaVerne Barnhart, George W. (Judy) Cassidy, Donald C. (Jane) Cassidy and the late Genevieve Bogda and Delores (Gerald, surviving) DeDesiderio.
Mr. Cassidy served during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a machinist on the LST 127.
Funeral arrangements are by Beinhauers. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4. Interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, at a later date.

Dear Cousins, I'm sorry to hear of your father's passing. Uncle Paul was a very kind and fun loving uncle. I will miss him very much. One of my fondest memories of him was when he would lead us in singing "Goodnight Irene" at the end of our family gatherings.

To My beautiful Cousins and family, I loved Uncle Paul, my Godfather and Aunt Dorothy so much! Both are together now with my mom and they look down on us. Each time we look up at the sky they will be smiling down on us and will make sure we feel their smiles and warmth. Uncle Paul was such a wonderful person. He had a wonderful character and always made sure that we felt special from him. I am sorry for him leaving you girls, my dear cousins, remember how much he loved all of you and loved so much! I wish I could be there to say "goodbye" to such a wonderful man. Please give him a kiss for me and tell him I say "sleep well." I hold all of you in my arms at this very sad time in our lives. My favorite story about your father happened in the early 1970s after one of my mother's famous basement parties. Your father and I were sitting at the dining room table and he said to me: "I am so glad my name is Paul, because that is what everyone calls me." It still makes me laugh.

Your father was a kind gentleman and a great dancer.
