Paul Lukas Obituary

Paul George Lukas, 94, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Vanceville, on August 24, 1931, son of the late Joseph Lukas and Mary Andruscak Lukas. Paul was a cherished husband, father and Pap Pap, known for his kindness and sense of humor. Upon graduation from Ellsworth High School in 1950, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico where he served four years as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. Paul was proud of his service where he worked on the B-36 bomber. Following his time in the service, he began a career as a quality control inspector. He worked for various companies in the area including RCA, McGraw Edison and Ross Mould, from where he retired. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Throughout his life and retirement, he traveled extensively with his wife and family. He visited every state, most of Europe and the Caribbean during his travels. Paul was a Pittsburgh sports fan. He loved the Steelers and attended many games. For over 20 years he and his wife spent their winters at their second home in Bradenton, Florida watching the Pirates' Spring Training games as season ticket holders. He never lost hope that this would "finally" be the year that the Pirates would be a winner. Paul was an outdoorsman. He had a hunting camp, the Weekend Lodge, in Potter County with his brothers and brothers-in-law. He looked forward to turkey and deer season every year and spending time with his son in the woods as well as playing 500 Rummy with everyone at the camp. In addition, he was an avid golfer for 60 years, spending several days a week golfing with his friends in Western Pennsylvania and Florida. Throughout his life, Paul was devoted first and foremost to his family. Paul was incredibly proud of his grandchildren. He loved watching all their sporting events and was always their "#1" fan. He would tell anyone who would listen about all their accomplishments. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Virginia Bill Lukas, whom he married on June 2, 1962. Also surviving are a daughter, Lori (James) Bozek of Washington; a son, Paul (Michele) Lukas of Washington; and five adored grandchildren: Marlaina and Kristina Bozek, Lauren, Ryan and Garrett Lukas; and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are eight siblings: John Lukas, Mary Hegedus, Joseph Lukas, Julie Osoba, Andrew Lukas, Ann Kulla, Steven Lukas and Helen Maloy. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 7, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2025, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, with Father Alec Scheuer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
