Paul Warchol Obituary

Paul Peter Warchol Sr., 88, of North Strabane Township, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025. He was born September 26, 1936, in Carnegie, a son of Peter and Margaret Kercher Warchol. On July 12, 1958, he married Faye Louise Alderson, who died May 9, 2020. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Paul worked and retired from Salem Furnace Company, Carnegie, where he was head of the purchasing department. He enjoyed camping and vacationing at Myrtle Beach, S.C. A true family man, he was active in everything in which his sons participated. He served as a scoutmaster in the Cub Scouts, coached football for Borland Manor Elementary School and served as president for the Canon-McMillan High School Quarterback Club. His true love and passion was wrestling. He served as president of CCNS Youth Wrestling for 10 years and also served as chairman and tournament director of Area IV B and later Area IV. He was instrumental in fundraising for the Canonsburg Junior High wrestling program and later became president of the Canon-McMillan High School Wrestling Booster Club for many years. He was well liked and respected in the wrestling community, making lifelong friendships through the years. Long after his sons graduated, he rarely missed a wrestling match and was named "Fan of the Year" by Coach Chris Mary in 2012. "Pap" adored his grandchildren and was at every activity and sporting event cheering them on. Surviving are three sons, Paul (Joanne) Warchol Jr., Michael (Tammy) Warchol, and Dave (Sharon) Warchol; seven grandchildren, Michael, Paul III, Nicholas, Joel, Luke, Zachary and Jillian Warchol; a brother, Thomas Warchol; also many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased is a brother, George (the late Peggy) Warchol; and a sister, Doris (the late Bill) Conwell. Friends received Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, from 3 to 7 p.m., in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412) 221-3333.
