Richard Joseph Kalan, 74, of South Fayette Township, formerly of Cecil Township, passed Sunday, January 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 24, 1947, in South View, a son of the late Joseph and Clara Bistarkey Kalan.
On December 28, 1968, he married Charlene Cogniet Kalan, who survives.
Mr. Kalan was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He worked for 25 years in IT at the Bayer Corporation, currently Covestro, where many of his colleagues became lifelong friends.
He enjoyed cooking and watching his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates. His passion for baseball stems from his years of pitching and getting a tryout for the major leagues. Above all, Richard loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving, along with his wife, Charlene Kalan, are two daughters, Chantel (Keith) Goldstrohm and Stacey (Gary) Dranikoski; five grandchildren, Alec, Brent and Kaylin Goldstrohm, and Ava and Lauryn Dranikoski; and a sister, Beverly Marchewka.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, February 6, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333), where a blessing service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday. Interment, with full military honors, will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
