Robert Hewitt Obituary
He was born May 4, 1927, in Donegal Township, a son of the late Mason and Ethel Craig Hewitt.
Mr. Hewitt attended Coon Island School.
He worked at Jessop Steel and was a dairy farmer all his life and farmed the land he loved. He also raised beef cattle and sheep and loved to hunt deer.
On March 18, 1946, he married Hazel Buckel in Dutch Fork Church in Claysville.
Surviving are children, Judy Dubich (Tom) of Burgettstown, Bill Hewitt (Cathy) of Claysville, Gary Hewitt of West Alexander, Joyce Mahon of West Alexander, Janet Lindley (Don) of Avella and Jodi Sloneker (Larry) of Claysville; nine grandchildren, Bob Dubich, Melissa Dubich, Maryann Duff, Karen Patterson, Jenny Hoefler, Tom, Tim and Dan Hewitt and Heather West; 18 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, Michelle Irey and Brian Hancher; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hewitt was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are a son, Tom Hewitt Sr.; two brothers, Paul and Melvin Hewitt; three sisters, Mildred Spragg, Naomi (Toots) Miller and Mary Hammett; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 724-663-7373, www.youngfhinc.com, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 1. Interment will follow in the Hewitt family cemetery.
