Robert Ranko Obituary

Robert "Bob" John Ranko Sr., 87, of Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He was born on August 20, 1937, a son of the late Stephen Ranko and Mary Kubovcik Ranko. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School. He went on to serve the Waynesburg community for many years as their postmaster until retiring in 1992. During this time, he met the love of his life, Mary, who he adored with all his heart. They married on November 9, 1990, and enjoyed 34-years of marriage until she passed on December 16, 2024. The two were avid Washington Wild Things fans. They were season ticket holders and acted as a host family. From 2002 - 2015, they welcomed 74 team members into their home on Allison Avenue. Throughout the years, they enjoyed connecting with the team and their families. Their family finds comfort knowing that Bob and Mary are reunited in heaven, together once again. In his free time, Bob enjoyed golfing as a member of Lone Pine and Greene County Country Clubs, being an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, running his furniture shop Second Time Around Furniture, spending time and sharing laughs with his friends as a lifetime member of the Elks and Bears Clubs, and simply being around his family. He loved nothing more than to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. "Pap" was always there to cheer each of them on. Surviving are his sister, Phyllis Ranko Matheny; three children, Robert (Joy) J. Ranko Jr., Ronald (Marcy) S. Ranko, and Rebecca (Steve) Paccone; three stepchildren, Thomas (Kathy) Swart, Ronald (Mary) Swart, and Jeanne Vollmer; seven grandchildren, Rob (Kat) Ranko, Jon (Charlotte) Ranko, Mackenzie (Tyler) Maltony, Kyla (Vince) Ranko, Julia Paccone, Mitchell Paccone, and Mason Paccone; seven step-grandchildren, Bob, Brian, Christina (Rusty), Bill (Ali), Jacklyn, Tim (Kelly) and Megan; five great-grandchildren, Izabella, Lucy, Remington, Easton, and Lucia; seven great- step-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Noah, Logan, Alaina, Hayley and Nikolai; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents and spouse, is his first wife, Lillian D. Norris Ranko. Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a blessing service will follow at 12 p.m.

Rob and family:
So sorry to read of your fathers passing. He was a wonderful person that always had an infectious smile and laugh. He taught me a lot when I started at the Post Office and I'll always have fond memories of him and those days. God bless!
