Ronald "Shooter" Bogo, 70, formerly of Avella, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born May 13, 1953, in Washington, a son of the late Albert A. and Olga L. Antonioli Bogo.
Ron was a 1973 graduate of Avella High School and was employed as an equipment operator for PennDOT for 20 years, until his health required him to retire in 1993.
He was a member of Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church and Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society, where he was the manager for 20 years.
Ron was a lifetime member of Avella Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a former member of SNPJ Lodge 292 of Avella and Paris Sportsman's Club, where he had served as the secretary.
He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing and playing darts. He loved watching NASCAR and his beloved Steelers.
Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda (Kris) Hunt and Donna (Frankie) Perry, both of Fairmont, W.Va.; two stepchildren, Amanda (Ken) McKinny of Burgettstown and Doug (Shawn) Matthews of Weirton, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Zack and Zoey Bogo, Ryan and Destiny Bogo, Kenneth, Haley, Olivia and Keenan McKinny; two great-grandchildren, twins, Raylee and Rylee Bogo; a sister, Barbara J. Bogo and a brother, Joseph (Carolyn) Bogo, both of Avella; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his fiancee, Teresa Matthews; a brother, Albert "Sonny" Bogo Jr.; and lifelong friend, Twila Hinerman.
Friends and family will be received from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home, Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where a blessing service will be held at 1:30 p.m., with the Reverend Zachary Galiyas officiating, immediately followed by a firemen's service in the funeral home.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Avella Volunteer Fire Department or Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society.
