Ruth Blair Obituary

With profound sadness, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth Anne Blair at 91 years of age. Ruth Anne passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, surrounded by family in Encinitas, Calif. A proud daughter of Greene County, Ruth Anne was born March 24, 1933, in Washington, the only child to David Allen Dittman and Margaret Ruth Watson Dittman of Waynesburg. Ruth Anne was a songbird of delight. She spent her youth learning there were no strangers and everyone was a dear friend along the verdant, tree lined streets of Waynesburg. Her devoted parents, Allen and Ruth, instilled in her a profound love of music, art, literature and the essential joy of deeply felt, lasting, human connections. Ruth Anne spread light, laughter, and love to all she met. After attending Wooster College, then graduating from West Virginia University, Ruth Anne married Albert John "Jack" Blair, Jr. of Waynesburg on February 20, 1954. Moving to Tulsa, Okla. with their first two children in 1956, they created a home and raised their family, adding four more children. Ruth Anne ensured that Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy lived. Every moment was a chance to celebrate life's countless joys if we would only welcome them. She encouraged her children to pursue their heart's desires and ferried them far and wide to achieve them. Sharing the song in her heart all along the way. She never met a stranger. To know her was to love her. Ruth Anne is predeceased by her husband, A.J. "Jack" Blair, Jr. She is survived by her six children: Dr. Albert John Blair III (Sandra Blair), Robert Allen Blair (Angela Deiana), Cheri Lynn Blair (Mike DePriest), William Edison Blair, Bruce Dittman Blair (Annette Corsino-Blair) and Matthew David Blair (Joy Blair); 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, at Behm Funeral Home, 182 High St., Waynesburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, at 1st Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg, 169 W. College St., Waynesburg, followed by final gathering at Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg.

Ruth Anne and I were very close friends from 2nd grade through High School. Your mom was a cheerleader and I was a drum majorette at Waynesburg HS. I have many cherished childhood memories of your mother.
I extend my deepest sympathy and am grateful for the cherished memories. Susie Mulvaney Spano.
