Steven Yanosik Obituary

Steven Michael Yanosik III, 72, of Southview, used up the last of his nine lives Tuesday, October 31, 2017, in Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care Center.

He was born February 4, 1945, in Southview, a son of the late Steven M. Jr. and Elizabeth Marie Ogrodowski Yanosik.

Mr. Yanosik proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

He was the owner and operator of Steve's Auto Service in Southview for nearly 60 years. He previously worked at Imperator Ford, Corwin Jeep and Masqueliers Ford. He also ran auto parts and worked at Lane Block Co. and Royal Crown Cola.

Mr. Yanosik was a member of St. Mary Parish in Cecil, where he taught CCD for many years. He was also a member, former assistant chief and chief engineer at Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department in Hickory. He was carnival chairman and then helped with the Hickory Apple Festival. He helped establish Southview Fire Department substation and was co-founder of Washington County Junior Firemen's Association.

He was a avid train enthusiast and repairman. He also had his pilot's license and was a jack-of-all-trades. His business card read, "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles." His most loved accomplishment was teaching his daughters and grandsons the ways of the world.

Surviving are two daughters, Jessica (Larry) Berti of Collier Township and Susan (Christopher) Ramsden of Brighton Heights; two grandsons, Bryan Berti and William Berti of Collier Township; two sisters, Betty Johnston of McDonald and Gloria (Donald) McConnell of Washington; many nieces and nephews; and his companion, Jan Menifield of Oakdale.

In addition to his parents, deceased are his wife, Donna Yanosik, who died December 31, 2008, and a sister who died in childhood, Mary Yanosik.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Route 50, Cecil, where where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 3, followed by a Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Cecil, with Father Stan Gregorek officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Cecil.

Steve was such a great man and my second father. He taught me so many life lessons all while cracking jokes.. usually at my expense! But that was Steve.. He always made us laugh! I think I'll miss that the most.
