Ada Inez Burris

Ada Inez Price Burris passed away Tuesday November 20th after a brief illness in Naples, Florida, just shy of her 97th birthday on January 14th.

She was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Harvey L. Burris, and also by three brothers: Geter Price, Carl Price, Bill Price and two sisters: Ruby Kowicz and Eva Lee Little.

She is survived by two daughters Bon Jou Dawn Hefner, Sondra Willets (Jim), two grandchildren: David Hefner (Pat) and Terry Hefner (Natalie), two great great grandchildren Caitlin Davis (Trevor), Gage Hefner (Bree) and one great great great grandchild Samuel. Also surviving is one sister of Conover, Rhonda Laffon (Gene), two adopted nieces Theresa Bumgarner (Tinker) and Patrican McClealland (Roland).

Ada was born to Floyd C. Price and Lulubell Pitts who died when Ada was 13 months old. She and her three siblings were raised by a remarkable woman, Maud Poovey,  who married Floyd and then raised three more children.

Ada owned a little motel on the south end of Myrtle Beach, the Susie Q, for 20 years. She relished meeting so many wonderful people who returned after many years. After selling the motel she enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, working puzzles, traveling and canning Harvey's beautiful garden vegetables which she equally enjoyed complaining about. She will be sorely missed for her wicked humor, laughter, love of family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also for that sharp tongue followed by a raised eyebrow.

No memorial service is planned for a Ada. Her ashes and Harvey's ashes are to be scattered over their beloved garden in Newton at their request.

Neptune Society is handling the cremation.
