We just called him Hobbs. A cherished member of Stage B along with his travelin' buddies, Frankie and Bubba, our little bluegrass campsite has been made up of wonderful friends that are now family. Our brother Randy was a gentle soul who was always looking for a chance to play his mandolin when a jam broke out. I recall one occasion when Randy was jamming away, only to realize he was playing with Richard Bailey, a wonderful banjo picker from the Steeldrivers. Although he fussed at me for not telling him who he was playing with, Randy held his own of course. Our house and camper are adorned with beautiful artwork that Randy painted and graciously gifted to us. There will be a missing friend at Stage B forever more. Rest in Peace Hobbs from your bluegrass brother and sister, Leon and Elaine.
