Hernando - Mr. Bert Lee Thomas, Jr., age 80, of Hernando, Florida, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 in Inverness, Florida. He was the owner/operator of Bert Thomas Well and Pump Service, which he founded in 1972. He came to Hernando, Florida from St. Petersburg, Florida in 1969. He was born on October 23, 1926 in Newport, Kentucky. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Life member of Leroy Rooks V.F.W., Post # 4252, Hernando. He was very active in the Inverness Little League since the 1970's. He also was a member of the Meadowbrook Church. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Bert Lee Thomas, Sr., and Lucy Welch; and 2 brothers, Eugene and Paul Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Nancy "Pat" Thomas of Hernando; 3 sons, Bert Thomas and wife Pamela of Ocala, Robert Lee Thomas of Ocala and Scott D. Thomas and wife Sladana of Ft. Carson, CO; daughter, Vicky Bradford of Aiken, SC; 4 brothers, John A. Thomas and James D. Thomas both of Illinois, Don D. Thomas and Joseph N. Thomas both of Michigan; 2 sisters, Bertha Snodgrass of Inverness and Ann Doughman of Hernando; 14 grandchildren and great grandson, Clayton Lee Thomas. The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Bert Lee, Thomas will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with Pastor Tim Gilligan officiating.
