Chris Hughes Obituary
Salt Springs - Chris G. Hughes, 69, died June 6, 2011 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. He was born in Dunbar, PA and moved from Jacksonville, FL to Salt Springs in 1975. He retired from the United States Navy and served his country in Viet Nam. He was Methodist and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and boating. Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Cheryl M. Hughes; daughters, Tonie Riley, of Salt Springs, Hettie Hughes, Ocklawaha; son, Jerry Hughes, Scrambletown; brother, Larry Hughes, Alleghany, MI; sisters, Karen Ross and Peggy Rankin, both of Dunbar, PA and 8 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Jacksonville Memorial Gardens, Jacksonville, FL with military honors. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be sent at www.hiers-baxley.com. Arrangements under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala.

"Pond Digger", Melanie and your wonderful children, We will miss "Pop" so terribly much this coming and all the following hunting seasons to come. He was always a joy to "run into" on 67 where he pretty much "kept it covered". I am so pleased to have known him and to be able to say I was one of his many friends.
