Frances GRIFFITH Obituary

GRIFFITH,
FRANCES STERCHI, 94
Ocala - Frances Sterchi Griffith, 94, of Ocala, FL passed away August 12, 2017. She was born in Knoxville, TN to Josie Reed Sterchi and Robert Lee Sterchi and, upon her death, was the oldest surviving member of the 10 brothers and sisters whom were all involved in the furniture trade known as Sterchi Brothers (all descendants of great-grandfather, Frances Henry Sterchi from Switzerland, and grandfather, J.L.A. Sterchi).
Frances was passionate about the game of duplicate bridge. She was a Ruby Life Master player and played happily and eagerly from her early teens to the day she died. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting cookbooks. She loved to fish, dance, and travel and delighted in sharing her stories. Cooking for family and friends was one of her greatest joys and one of the many ways in which she showed her love.
Frances is predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Griffith, Jr. (2005); and her son, Oliver Wright, III (Sandy) (2015).
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Robert Lee (Bob) and daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean (BJ) Barrett, of Berkeley Lake, GA; daughter, Margaret Wright Adkins, and son-in-law, Kevin Kellett, of Ocala, FL; and daughter, Priscilla Ann Wright of Ocala, FL; stepdaughters, Gail Griffith Sterchi, and husband, George Sterchi, of Lenoir City, TN; and Jan Griffith Hanna, and husband, E.R. Hanna III (Bushy), of Bozeman, MT; and nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church chapel in Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to her favorite charities in Ocala, FL: Hospice House of Marion County or Frank DeLuca YMCA. Romans 8:35-39; Philippians 1:21
