BYRD, HERMAN LOUIS, 85



Ocala - Herman Louis Byrd, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Sylvia's Hospice House. Born on August 21, 1923 in Willette, Louisiana, he moved to Ocala from Panama City with his wife in 1996. A retired Senior Master Sergeant with 29 years of service in the United States Air Force, he served with distinction during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. While living in Panama City, he was very active with the Elks Lodge #1598 as well as a Master Mason and charter member of the Shaddai Shrine Temple. He is survived by his 2 sons Dr. Timothy Byrd (Denise) of Ocala, Terry Byrd (Connie) of Jacksonville; and 5 grandchildren Stephen, Jeremy, Stacy, Christine, and Evan Byrd. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Ann Byrd and his daughter Pamela Byrd. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Highland Memorial Park, 1515 NE 3rd Street, Ocala. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, Florida 34478. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Ocala Chapel.
