Iris Nix Obituary
Ocala- Iris R. Nix, 88, of Ocala passed away peacefully on June 5, 2011 at Hawthorne Village A.L.F. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Junior. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (John) Dale and Elaine Nix; a grandson, John Isaac; her brother, William (Marilyn) Rawls, and numerous nieces and nephews. Iris worked for 30 years in the unemployment office. Upon retiring, she went to garage sales, played bingo, and traveled. Graveside services will be held at 3:30pm on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Highland Memorial Park, Ocala. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Thornwell Children's Home, P.O. Box 60, Clinton, SC 29325. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, Florida.

Friends for a lifetime: from the days at Ocala High School, where I first met her, to Camp Roosevelt Nat'l Youth Adm. School to roommate during World War II, where We worked as secretaries for the U.S. Government, to all the years since, a wonderful, caring friend! I will miss her.

Pat & Elaine, I am sorry for the lose of your mother. I will always cherish the many years I spent being at your house and my time with your mom. She was a lovely lady who always made me feel welcome. May God bring you comfort during your time of sorrow.

U will be greatly missed. All of the girls at Hawthorne have enjoyed having u with us. U are such a sweet and kind lady and it wont be the same without u around. We all love u Iris. Rest in peace. My condolences to Iris's family. Love Misty and all of the girls at Hawthorne.
