Janice Jacobs Obituary

JACOBS,
JANICE ELIZABETH BURNS
Janice Elizabeth Burns Jacobs began life's transition on September 19, 1955 as the youngest and only daughter of the late Mr. Jesse Lee, Sr. and Mrs. Marie Burns in Bradenton, Florida. Their household had a firm belief in 'God our Father, Christ our Redeemer, Holy Spirit our Comforter and Humankind our Family'. There was never a transition from the motto of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. 'Motivated to Act'
Of the many transitions, one chooses to make, Janice Elizabeth was motivated to act and achieve in life by completed her secondary education in the public schools of Manatee County in Bradenton, Florida. Her focus then became Head, Hand and Heart and she graduated and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Bethune Cookman College (University), Daytona Beach, Florida in 1976. Janice also received a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the University of Florida as part of life's transition. Her final degree, a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling was earned from Webster University in 2014. As time would have it, Janice Elizabeth Burns, met and fell in love with a young man in Gainesville, Florida, Tony B. Jacobs and in August of 1986, they were married. Their transition was, 'until death us do part.'
Janice Elizabeth Bums Jacobs will be sorely missed by those who love her, but will also be remembered as a 'sharp, stately lady' who loved to wear hats with shoes to match. Whenever She entered the room, everyone knew she would look her best with that heartwarming smile. This Tole of life is filled with many transitions. The songwriter, Jenny Wilson said it is time and swift! 'Naught of Earth unmoved can stand. Build your hopes on things Eternal. Hold to it God' s unchanging hand.' Janice Elizabeth Burns Jacobs heeded those words and transitioned from this earthly life and moved to life eternal on July 2, 2018 when she heard the voice of Jesus say, 'Peace be Thine.'

I am a friend of Janice & Jessie from Bradenton, FL. We attended the same Elem & High School. Our mothers were very involved in the community. I remember her as being a very loyal friend.

July 12, 2018

I first met Janice in the summer of 1977 when we both worked in a summer program in Tampa. I was probably in grad school at USF and Janice may have already been attending. UF. I was from Gainesville, so I would sometimes call and visit her whenever I was in town. I remember her to be a loyal friend with class and ambition. As with all old college friendships, we eventually lost contact. To her husband Tony and the family, I pray for you all and encourage you to realize that she is on a better journey with God, our creator, most gracious, most merciful. Sincerely, Arva Leath Sufi.
