A wonderful woman has left us only to be up in heaven watching over us. I found this picture in some old photos my mother left me of the family.

Darling Joan. We share so many wonderful memories with our husbands and our children growing together. There is a void in our lives that can never be filled..except with those memories. Our prayers are with our friend Al and those great children you raised, their spouses that we love so much, and the grandchildren we watched grow up to be so wonderful and now the beautiful grandbabies...We love ALL of you and pray for your grief to turn to joy...

I've only recently had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Scudder, and although I did not know Mrs. Scudder well, she was always very gracious and kind. My most sincere sympathy and prayers go out to the Scudder family during this very sad time.

I knew Joan in Ocala from 1961, then both of us moved to Crystal River and four years ago we continued our friendship in Highlands, NC. Joan, Joy and Betty always sat on the second row in our Highlands United Methodist Church every summer. I will miss seeing my long time friend whose passing has left a void in three communities where she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joan was a lovely, gracious lady.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Al and all of the family in their loss.

Juanita and I pray that God grants Al and the family comfort and peace. Joan was a fine woman--truly a Southern lady--and we will miss her. She touched SO many lives in a positive way during her time here, and she leaves a wonderful family behind to continue her work. Gone from this place, but never forgotten.
