To Althea, Rachel, Kenneth, Dellanor, Kerchita, Ann, and the Jacobs family: We were heartbroken to hear about Deacon Jabcobs' demise. He was indeed a pillar of the community. I remember vividly how Deacon Jacobs ( and Althea) would clean the church yard for many years and clean out the Pool which was located on the side of the Church (Mt. Canaan Baptist Church) whenever there was a baptism there (during the 1950's). He also provided us (the community) with food giveaways and his famous greens , pecans etc. He was very active in church and as a Deacon would often pray during devotion, always spearheaded fund raisers , and even sang his song Just A Closer Walk With Thee in the choir. He participated in most if not all programs we had at church and always had a great sense of humor. We will always remember and love him and express our condolences to the Family. May God continue to Bless and keep you is our prayer. Sleep on Dec. Jacobs, take your rest, we loved you but God Loved you Best.
