NAN EDWARDS Obituary

EDWARDS, NAN FUTCH
Nan Futch Edwards, age 91, of Memphis, Tennessee, died August 5, 2018. She was born in Ocala, Florida to the late Judge Leverett Futch and Nan Simmons Futch. She graduated from Blessed Trinity Academy and attended Wesleyan Conservatory and Huntington College. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Pioneer Garden Club, First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, and the President's Counsel of the University of Florida. She also served on the board of the Appleton Museum of Art.
Mrs. Edward's sense of humor, curiosity about the world around her, and enjoyment of the good life helped guide all that she did. After raising her three children in Montgomery, Alabama, she returned to Florida-first to Ocala and later, Naples. She traveled extensively, exploring remote corners of the world-often in great style, and always with infectious enthusiasm. Whether in Memphis or Mombasa, Montgomery or Macau, Mrs. Edwards embraced adventure. Her love of travel is among her greatest legacies to her family and friends.
Mrs. Edwards is preceded in death by her husband Edward S. Watts; son, Thomas Watts; grandson, Edward Watts; husband, Dr. Duke Edwards; and brothers, Simmons Futch and Earl Futch.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Watts Massey (Bill); and son, William Norwood Watts (Barbara); stepchildren, Thomas Edwards (Donna), Carolyn Edwards, Steve Edwards, and Jeanne Edwards Rogers (Mabry). She will be missed by her grandchildren, William Norwood Watts (Sanya), William Clay Massey (Shelley), Virginia Massey Houmes (John); step grandchildren, Gill Rogers (Parky), Katie Bee Marshall (Seton), Mary Coleman Clark (Charlie), Martha Evelyn Graham (Brent), Forest Lee Edwards (Carrie), Stephen Lynn Edwards (Honor) and Christopher Steward Edwards; as well as seven great grandchildren; and 11 step great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Edwards will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery (Highland Memorial Park) in Ocala Florida at 2:00pm on August 11, 2018. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, Florida, 511 SE 3rd St, Ocala, FL 34471.

Nan was the most enthustiac person that I ever knew. John and I loved going to the football games with her in Gainesville. We always had a ball. I don't think she knew how to have a bad day. I love the way she cared for Duke, Nan was a wonderful and unique person. She will be missed. Mary and John Killebrew

I grew up with Mrs. Watts son Bill, in Montgomery. She was a sweet lady and always had a smile when I visited their home. She had a great life. My condolences to the family.

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
