Paul Morse Obituary

MORSE, PAUL KENNETH, 82 Ocala - Rev. Dr. Paul Kenneth Morse, 82, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Born in Detroit, MI, the son of Fay and Esther Mae Morse, he graduated from Taylor University (B.A.) and earned master's and PhD degrees from University of Michigan as well as a B. Div. from McCormick Theological Seminary. He was an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and a member of Greater Atlanta Presbytery. He retired from the Medical College of Georgia as Professor Emeritus of Dental Education in 1987. Ken is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean A. Morse, his sister, Janet Watkins, his brother, Ronald Morse, his sons David, Steven and Mark, his four grandchildren, Melanie, Sarah, Michael and Kevin. Professionally, he served as the editorial consultant to the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry for many years. An avid genealogist, Ken was a member of the Morse Society contributing information that he and Jean compiled through their visits to county courthouses, libraries and other sites. During his retirement years in Georgia and Florida, Ken freely and frequently volunteered his services to organizations such as AARP, in the form of teaching the "55 Alive" safe driving course as well as offering free tax preparation services. Other service included volunteer work at the Carrollton, GA soup kitchen, and he often filled empty pulpits for Presbyterian churches on a temporary basis. Most recently, he was a SHINE volunteer working to assist senior citizens in helping to select among the many medicare prescription benefit plan options open to people in Marion County. He enjoyed bowling, walking, reading, watching sports and playing with his grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, January 24 at 2PM at First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, 511 SE 3rd Street. Visitation will be held also at the church from 1-2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, Southern Institute for Appropriate Technology (2944 County Rd. 113, Lineville, AL 36266) or Heifer International.

Mrs. Morse,
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your husband in January. If your other children are as gracious, kind, humble and thoughtful as Steve, you and Ken did something right raising them and are truly blessed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family and my wish is that you will always remember the happiness of time spent with Ken and the family.
