Rhoda Isicoff Obituary

ISICOFF, Rhoda
Rhoda Isicoff of Ocala and Miami, passed away on January 22, 2010, after an amazing and unwavering battle with cancer. She was 75 years young.
Rhoda was born in Cranford, New Jersey on June 27, 1934, and grew up in Newark, where she met and married Irving Isicoff. They moved to Miami in 1955 and raised three children in North Miami Beach.
Rhoda was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a shining example of selfless concern for others and had unparalleled wisdom, compassion and patience.
In 2001, Rhoda and Irving completed the construction of their dream house in Ocala, which they designed and built together. This beautiful home in the heart of horse country became the centerpiece for many great times and memories. Their home was always open to family and friends.
Above and beyond all else, family meant more to Rhoda than anything on earth and she was someone anyone could talk to and confide in about anything. She was most proud of her three children and their families and was always there to lend a helping hand, in good times and in bad. Somehow, she always knew the right things to say and always made you feel better, no matter the problem. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends and her loss creates a void that can never be filled.
Rhoda leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Irving, her three children Steven (Laurel), Eric (Tammy) and Susan (Charles), as well as seven grandchildren, Alison, Daniel, Jamie, Jordan, Jennifer, Zach and Lindsey, her sister Joan (Charles Lang) and many other family members and friends. She is predeceased by her sisters Helen and Dorothy, her brother Harvey and her grandson Joseph.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:00 am, at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, 5900 SW 77th Ave., Miami, FL 33143, with burial to follow at Mt. Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens. The family encourages donations to the Joseph Samuel Isicoff Memorial Fund c/o Isicoff, Ragatz & Koenigsberg, 1200 Brickell Ave., Suite 1900, Miami, Florida 33131 or the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dear Isicoff Family,

I'm a very close friend to Susan and Charlie in Tampa and want to share our deepest sympathies with your family. Rhoda was an angel on earth and helped those that could not help them selves.

We have a child with special needs and had events to raise money for this cause and Rhoda was there to help in any way she could. All though our bond was through Susan we had a connection that you dont find everyday and I know she is smiling down on us and as long as Susan and I take care of each other and the kids she will be forever happy!

My deepest sympathy to the entire Isicoff family. Although I've lost touch from all of you. My fondest memories of your loving mother remain in my thoughts forever. The caring times your mom picked me up from school when I was sick, the times we swam in your pool in NMB, and played on the bunk beds. So many great memories. Each time we were all together your mom treated my sisters and I like we were one of her own. Thats why we use to call her Aunt Rhoda. Those memories will always be with me forever in my thoughts. My heart goes out to each one of you for your loss.
Sincerly,
Martin Freidin

Hello to all the family. I only found out about Rhoda a few minutes ago. I first met her in 1980 when I went to work at the family business. Thru many years after that her and I would often talk about our kids. She gave me many hints about being a MOM. She once told me that she had asked one of her kids to clean their room (I believe it was Steven) and he said he did not like her anymore. Her answer to him was" I am not here to win any personnailty contests, I am here to raise you". She had quite a few more and I admit to using them a few times on my kids. I sure wish I could be there to give you all some hugs and kisses. Jean Kinney
