Robert (Bob) David Sulzer
Ocala - Robert (Bob) David Sulzer, 87, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021. He was the son of Theodore P. and Irma Sulzer. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and had a very accomplished career. Bob had degrees in electrical engineering and business administration, both from University of Dayton. He led the design team for the paddle unit for the external oxygen tank on the service module for the Apollo space program. Later, he was part of the design team for the cooling fan for IBM's first personal computer. During his retirement, Bob was active in the community and championed the cause to install a streetlight at S.R. 200 and 103rd St Rd in 1996, a primary exit for thousands of residents living in subdivisions along 103rd St. Rd.
Bob loved traveling and had been to all 50 of the United States and 5 continents. He and JoAnne especially enjoyed cruises to many parts of the world.
Bob was predeceased by his wife JoAnne after 60 years of marriage in Sept. 2016. He is survived by their four children, Sharon Reynolds (Gary) of Bearsville, NY, Debora McKinley (Michael) of Saugerties, NY, Nancy Butler (Lance) of Manchester, CT, and Paul Sulzer of Saugerties, NY, nine grandchildren, Christine DiNicola, Ashley Orcutt, Scot Butler, Ryan Butler, Audrey Butler, Brett Butler, Sydnie Butler, Carsen Sulzer, and Lane Sulzer, and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette Stitt of Sunbury, OH.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John's Parish in West Hurley, NY. Burial will be at St. Mary's of the Snow Cemetery in Saugerties, NY next to his wife JoAnne.
