Snellville, GA - Thalia Hill Douglas was born in Coleman, Florida on March 4, 1911 to Edward and Florence Elizabeth Bridges Hill. She was the youngest of five siblings who preceded her in death, Lloyd Hill, Delphina Hill Wicker, Berta Hill Eger and Nellie Hill Sherman. Thalia passed away on December 31, 2012, at Eastside Heritage Embracing Hospice in Snellville, Georgia. She was 101 years old.
Thalia graduated from Wildwood High School and was a longtime resident of Weirsdale, Florida. She was an active member of the Weirsdale Presbyterian Church until she moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia to live with her great-niece, Gloria Clasby, in 2003. Thalia loved her family and had a heart for helping others throughout her life. She had many friends in Coleman and Weirsdale, Florida, along with many new friends in Georgia.
Thalia was called Ti by her friends and family. She always made time for her hobbies which included knitting and various crafts during her younger years, plus she loved fishing, cooking and watching NFL football on television until her eyesight started failing. She had a great love of life and always shared a smile.
Ti was married to Robert D. Douglas of Weirsdale, Florida in 1961 until he passed away in 1984. She is survived by her stepson, Dr. William Douglas of Orlando, Florida; her niece Alice Sherman Wheeler of Gainesville, Florida; and great-niece Gloria Day Clasby (and her children and grandchildren), and a great-nephew, James Lambert Lewis (wife, Anne, and his children and grandchildren), of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Additionally, Ti is survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews, Judy Gillespie Durbin and Joan Gillespie Nummy of Prattville, Alabama; Lucia Gillespie Tatum of Redondo Beach, California; Jennifer Richardson Acree of Melrose, Florida; Florence Elizabeth Wicker of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Delma Wicker Moore of Australia; Edward Wicker of Stockbridge, Georgia; Terry John Wicker and David Lambert Wicker of Australia; Lloyd Hill of Middleton, Maryland; and niece Shirley Eger Houghton of Peyton, Colorado; and nephew Robert Eger of Washington state.
Funeral services for Thalia will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Weirsdale Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Weirsdale, FL. Family and friends may call at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, FL on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
