Thomas Urtz Obituary

URTZ, THOMAS A. "TOM", 58
Mr. Thomas A. "Tom" Urtz, 58, entered into eternal rest on Friday evening, June 5, 2009, in Tampa General Hospital. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife and children. Tom was born in Ilion, New York, graduated from Ilion High School, and served in the United States Navy from July of 1970 to July of 1974. Tom married Cecelia Jones, a marriage of 25 years until her passing in January of 2002, after which Tom moved to Ocala. Tom found happiness again when he married Robin Schimborski on November 18, 2006 at Grace Episcopal Church in Ocala. Tom was employed as a cutter grind operator at Remington Arms in Ilion, New York, retiring after 31 years of dedicated service. Tom delivered flowers from time to time in Ocala, which he enjoyed "because it makes people smile." In his leisure time Tom enjoyed playing guitar and banjo, doing woodworking and traveling. Tom treasured the time spent with his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Tom is survived by his wife, Robin Urtz: son Jeffrey Urtz and grandson, Anthony, of Ilion, NY; son Christopher Urtz, his wife, Shannon, and grandchildren Damian, Angelia and Olivia, of Frankfort, NY; daughter, Lisa Urtz, of Mohawk, who is expecting a granddaughter in October; stepson, David Schimborski, his wife, Jessica, and their son Hayden; and stepson, Joseph Schimborski, Jr., his wife, Joy, and their children, Harold, Tia, and Alyssa Beth. Tom is also survived by two brothers: Steven Urtz and his wife, Celena, of Arizona, and Robert Urtz of San Diego, CA; and a sister, Ann Cotter, of Little Falls, NY. Tom is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Tom was laid to rest on Friday, June 12, 2009, commencing with a service by the Rev. Thomas Trees at Enea Family Funeral Home in Ilion, NY, and was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Clinton, NY, where he was laid to rest with full military honors by the United States Navy. There will be a Memorial Service at Christ the King Anglican Church, 3801 N. US Hwy 441 in Ocala, with the Rev. Donald J. Curran, Jr., officiating on Thursday. July 2, 2009 at 3;00 p.m. Personal messages for the family can be left at www.ocala.com. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in Tom's memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 29119, Phoenix, AZ 85038-9119.

Robin and family,

Much love, thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

On this Father's Day, we especially pray that your happy memories bring you comfort, and that God's loving grace brings you peace.

Tom's laughing eyes, easy smile and funny stories will be missed, yet he lives on in the hearts of those of us fortunate enough to know him. Tom truly blessed every life he touched.

Here's hoping that Heaven always has pizza and chocolate ice cream on the menu, with Fox News Channel playing continuously across the skies!

Much love,

Diane, Mike and Sean Hogan
